Games in Tainan

One big differnece betwen Northern Taiwan(Taipei) and Southern Taiwan(Tainan) is the pace of life. In Taipei everyone seems to be on the move, trying to pack a lot into just 24 hours. In Tainan, they take their time, they have time for games.

In the parks there area where each set of gamers can go and find a game. If the crowd is big with spectators then it's usually a card game for money. The more money the more spectators.

Here's my favorite game in the park, Xiang Qi, the Chinese game of chess. Xiang Qi is one of the few games that is usually NOT played for money. But I have seen some games played for $500NT(~$15US).

And Mah Jhong is played for money and that usually draws a crowd.

Some of the equipment speaks of thousands of games played. Here is an AnChi board, how many games have they played to get this kind of wear and tear?
I have explanation of AnChi on my webpage at:

If you know anything about Go(called WeiChi in Chinese) it's that a game takes at least an hour. It's like the golf of board games.
