Camping in Taiwan 2

What do Taiwanese like to do most eat or talk? Luckily they can both be done at the same time. And camping is a perfect time for both. I was a pretty good Boy Scout about 45 years ago but we never went camping like the Taiwanese.

First we got on a nice tour bus for a two hour ride into the mountains of Taiwan. Here the air is very clean and a little cooler than in KaoHsiung.

We rented a camper on the camp grounds and we bought a box with all the fixings to do "Huo Guo". This is a pot of boiling water and we keep putting vegtables, meat, shrimp, mushrooms, meatballs, clams, ... in the boiling water.
As each ingredient is boiled it is taken out and eaten. Everyone has their favorites that they fish out of the boiling water. And the broth just keeps getting better and better as more and more ingredients are cooked. We cooked in a big picnic area and were lucky to be next to generous campers that shared their feasts with us.

There was also a lot of entertainment: Karioki in Hoklo and a piano singer playing Chinese Golden Oldies. There were also stage shows just like in Las Vegas, one was 3 Africans doing acrobatics.

There also was a troupe of 8 transexuals(men as women) performing dance numbers. I was fooled and thought they were women until someone told me they weren't. They we very convincing and it was a little unnerving.

It wasn't a Boy Scout sanctioned event but we all had a great time.

Taiwanese camping sounds great! I want to go, too. There are plenty of camping areas around Tucson, but none have shows like you got to see. Female impersonators even!
