I had a chance to accurately measure the square footage of my dorm room. It was easy because my room is a rectangle so only two measurements are required. The length is: 14.76 feet, the width is 8.6 feet, So the square footage is about 127 square feet.
Here is a video of my room, it's not long.

Mike, your movies are an inspiration to me. I always find them interesting. It sounds like you can be comfortable in a small place. I didn't see your centipede or gecko, though. Is it too crowded for them?
A technical question: do you have to compress your videos before posting them on blogger? Larry is having trouble viewing the one I posted on my blog recently.
Paula, I don't compress the video, it is just an AVI file. But I do change the settings and go back to the old editor to upload the video. Uploading videos doesn't seem to be supported in the new editor. Mike
The SQFT is more expensive than what we are renting now. Our apartment in Bellevue is 1034 SQFt and we pay $1322. It is about $1.278 per SQFT. But in Taiwan is $200 for 127 SQF. It is about $1.574. So Us is actually cheaper in rent!
Hi Mike - I'll be arriving late December to study Chinese at NCKU for the winter session and I'm writing to say how much I've enjoyed reading your blog. It has given me a very clear picture of what to expect of class, the hostel accommodation and Tainan in general. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences and I'll make sure to introduce myself if I see you around.
