Early Christmas
It's after Thanksgiving here in Tainan so the Christmas decorations ahve started to appear and all the stationary stores are selling Christmas cards and wrapping paper. I'm kind of excited to see just much this Christmas madness is going to effect Taiwan. I know everyone like to get gifts, but Christmas really isn't a Chinese holiday. (Even though Chiang Kaishek called himself a Christian.) Here's the first of what I see in Tainan. The tasteful:

This year really flies. Somehow I don't have any feeling about holiday. So the decoration actually reminds me I have to do something for the holiday. When I was in Taiwan, Christmas was foreign. Since Chiang Kaishek was Christan, we created a holiday called constitution day on 12/25 in order to get that day off. If I was a president, I should have my birthday as a holiday.
Christmas seems to be a secular holiday all over the world. It's fun to see how other cultures interpret Santa Claus. People in our neighborhood in Tucson are already putting up Christmas decorations. We just brought a few things from Bellevue to decorate with, nothing much. Florence, I'll take the day off on your birthday to celebrate, and we can pretend it's a national holiday!
I like Christmas, as the weather get cold, but the green/red decoration brings something "warm". haha..
